PixieWiki:About
From PixieWiki
This is the Pixie Wiki, for discussion and user-contributed documentation or examples relating to Pixie.
For bug reporting, please use the forums here.
If you're new to Wikis, have a look at Help:Formatting for the formatting rules that apply to this wiki. Or have a look at Wiki theory at the original Wiki [[1]]. There's also a quick getting started section for Help:Getting Started. The engine which runs this site is mediawiki. So You may find some useful information on http://www.mediawiki.org.
Most importantly, feel free to add anything that is relevant to Pixie - that's the way a Wiki works. By sharing information, the community will benefit (plus its a lot easier than crafting a whole html site by hand).
Use the login "Create Account / Log In" link ( here ) to give yourself an account. This wiki is open for contributions by anyone, but we do ask that you create a login first, so that each change can be attributed to whoever made it. Note: You'll need to allow the cookie from this site in order that it can remember who you are, so you can make edits. In an effort to ensure this site remains spam free, you must supply an email address. A mail will be sent to you with a like to activate your account. You email address will be kept private. Another advantage of supplying an email afress is that it does allow the wiki software to tell you when someone updated one of the pages you're watching.
Discussion vs Content The wiki has special discussion pages, which can be attached to each page. To see the discussion page, please click the 'discussion' link in the toolbar. We would like to strongly encourage users to help maintain Pixie's documentation by contributing (edit pages or create new ones). If you have questions or 'meta' content to add, please do it on the discussion page, rather than the main page. This helps us keep the documentation and additional content easily browsable and informative, whilst allowing you to ask questions or make comments about the documentation which is there.
New pages You can create a new page by going to a page which doesn't exist, or by adding a link to a nonexistent page on another page which does exist, and then clicking that link. The latter is definitely better as it makes sure the new page is accessible from somewhere.
Deleting pages. The site admins are the only users who can permenantly delete pages or rename pages - this is just to try to prevent vandalism. Just mail me (george at the domain graphics.co.uk) if you want a page renamed or deleted. You can also change the page contents to [[DeleteMe]] and regular admin should pick it up...
A note to spammers. Don't bother. The pages will be easily rolled back, and you'll simply be demonstrating how little you respect others who put in their time. Spamming will be met with an instant ban / block from the site (first offence). IP addresses of repeat offenders will be supplied to the relevant ISP.
