[edit] Adding a new page

Find the place you wish to create a link from, and edit the page (link down at the bottom of the page). You'll need a login to do this. If you don't have one, click "Login" at the top and then "Create Login".

Once you've got a login, and are editing the page you wish to link from, add text to create a link. Text which is surrounded by double square braces [[LinkToPage]] automatically makes a link, but there are other ways to create links too. Have a look at Help:Formatting. Save the page's changes, and you'll see a question mark next to the link you created. Click it to start editing the new page. That's all there is to it.

[edit] Watching a page

The "Watch" sidebar link lets you watch a page for changes - you'll be emailed the first time this happens, (but not again until you visit the page). You have to be logged in for this to work.

[edit] Looking at revisions of a Page

You can click "History" in the sidebar to see the other revisions. You can also use "RecentChanges" to have a look at what's new. The "SiteIndex" can also be used to get an overview of the site's structure.

[edit] Guide to structuring pages

Try to use subpages where appropriate to keep things grouped, but don't go beyond one or two pages deep. Subpages prevent the global namespace becomming to poluted, and help when preparing a version of the documentation to ship with Pixie. For major topics (especially adding to the homepage) might not need to use a subpage.

[edit] Deleting Pages

In short, you can't. This helps prevent vandalism. The longer answer is that you can replace a page with [[DeleteMe]] and an admin can remove it as part of site maintainance. Admins can also be asked to move or rename pages. Put requests in the Talk portion of he page for that.

[edit] User Preferences

You can set various preferences in Special:Preferences. Preferences include how many days of recent changes to show and so on.

[edit] Uploading content

You can upload certain types of files by clicking the "Upload" button. This will give you a link to the text to put on your wiki page which will automatically include the item. Be careful, in that it may be possible to upload over existing files - so use your username as a prefix. If you find a certain type of file can't be uploaded, leave a note at PixieWiki and we'll have a look at allowing that file type. Perl scripts cgi's etc will not be allowed for obvious reasons.
